Navas played and won knowing that his godfather had passed away

The captain of Sevilla knew the sad news on Friday morning but decided to play, with integrity, to contribute to the victory and lift the Sixth Europa League.

Jesús Navas played the game hours after learning that this same Friday morning a person he loved very much, his godfather, had passed away. This was revealed by the captain after the final and lifting the Sixth Europa League title, third for him in Sevilla.

In a gesture that honors him and despite the great sorrow that the loss entailed, Navas remained in the eleven and wanted to play to honor the memory of one of the important people in his life and then he dedicated the victory to him.

The footballer from Los Palacios, aged 34 to 35, was called up on Thursday once again with the Spanish National Team and despite his long career he is in one of the best moments of his career. Against Inter he had another great game and, as against United, he gave another goal assist to De Jong.
