Munar caresses Cincinnati after surprising Delbonis

The Spaniard surpassed the Argentine with firm tennis and an overwhelming start. American Wolf will be measured for a place in the final draw.

Weeks ago it seemed that those MAPFRE tennis league matches would go nowhere, but now the results of that shoot are already visible. And it is that Jaume Munar, after beating the copper in those duels on clay, has put into practice the experience to beat Federico Delbonis in the penultimate round of the preliminary phase of the Masters 1,000 in Cincinnati.

The Balearic did his homework against the Argentine, a rival who is currently several steps above Jaume in the ATP ranking (105th for 78th place), imposing his highest number of hours in competition in recent months. Delbonis paid it and the scoreboard spoke for itself in the first set: 6-1 for Munar in just 26 minutes of play.

The movie was already another in the second set, with a more attentive Delbonis and with the lesson learned. But still his reaction came late. There were no breaks and everything was decided in the tie break, hot moments in which Munar showed greater solidity. This Friday the pass to the final table of the tournament will be played, which starts in New York next Saturday, August 22, with a local player: Jeffrey John Wolf. The young American, 21 years old and 144th in the ATP, gave one of the big surprises of the previous one by eliminating Gerasimov (69th) on the fast track: 6-3 and 6-1. The company will not be easy for the Balearic Islands against a rival on a streak and who arrived as a wildcard (guest). The pressure will be on Jaume's roof ... 444 444
