Kruijswijk will not accompany Roglic and Dumoulin on the Tour

The Jumbo-Visma have announced that the Dutchman will not race in the Gala round although he does hope to be able to compete in the Giro d'Italia. He will be replaced by Amund Grondahl Jansen.

Serious setback for the Jumbo-Visma of Primoz Roglic and Tom Dumoulin nine days before the start of the Tour de France in Nice. The Dutch team has confirmed this Thursday that Steven Kruijswijk, another of the team's great figures and third last year in the Tour de France, will not attend the 2020 edition.

The hard crash that Kruijswijk suffered in the fourth stage of the Dauphiné in the descent of the Plan Bois has turned out to be more serious than it seemed, so that the information that already questioned his presence in the Tour de France has finally been confirmed. His place in the team will be occupied by the Norwegian Amund Grondahl Jansen, who will become an important piece in helping Roglic and Dumoulin on the mountain stages.

In statements released by the team, Kruijswijk himself regretted his absence from the Tour while announcing that he will work on recovering from his injuries to reach the Giro d'Italia (3-25 October) in top form. "Unfortunately, the consequences of my crash in the Dauphiné have become more series than I expected. With great disappointment, I will not be able to participate in the Tour de France due to a broken shoulder and several abrasions. Now I am going to work on my recovery first and then I will set the Giro d'Italia as a new goal. I wish the team the best of luck on the Tour. I am very disappointed that I cannot be part of the team. "
