Koeman's 'overbooking': 32 open folders

Work is piling up for Koeman: he has a squad of 32, including signings, loaned players who have returned, team members who will go up and players from the first team.

The situation is not easy for Ronald Koeman. The obvious sports crisis that the club is going through is joined by an economic situation deteriorated by the coronavirus crisis, which has left the club's coffers with more cobwebs than anything else. In addition, after the 2-8 against Bayern, the sports management has set itself the priority of reformulating and rebuilding the team, with a revolution at all levels in the dressing room.

In fact, right now Koeman has an oversized squad, which also still awaits "four or five signings", as revealed by Koeman himself in an interview with a medium in his country. The coach has a total of 32 footballers in his portfolio, among the first team players, the loaned players who have returned, the youth from the subsidiary who will go up and the new ones who have arrived.

So, to open his mouth, he has six 'left over'. And that's without taking into account that the arrival of new signings could open the range between ten to twelve casualties at least.

The current first team squad is made up of 18 players -Arthur Melo is the only confirmed casualty after being transferred to Juventus-, and right now it has four closed signings -Pjanic, Trincao, Pedri and Matheus-, along with Riqui Puig , Ansu Fati and Ronald Araujo, who will have a first-team record, and the loaned players who have returned: Rafinha, Todibo, Aleñá, Miranda, Oriol Busquets and Wagué. Also Philippe Coutinho, who is now playing the Champions League with Bayern, has to return soon. Thus, a total of 32 players in the portfolio.

Obviously, it is expected that the first to leave will be the loaned ones, to whom a solution is being sought. In fact, among the seven cases, only Coutinho and Aleñá have any option to stay. The rest will find a way out.

Of the new ones, there are two that will be in the first team: Pjanic and Trincao. The Canarian Pedri has many numbers, while the Brazilian Matheus will have to convince Koeman during the preseason.

Ansu Fati and Riqui Puig have been promised the number of the first team, and Ronald Araujo there is also the intention of permanently raising him to the first team.

And now comes the tough nut to crack: the 18 players of the first team. Here Koeman will have to do a deep restructuring in order to achieve the promised re-foundation, but everything indicates that it will not be easy and that there will be many stones along the way.
