Kangert signs with Mitchelton as Simon Yates' squire

The Estonian will leave the ranks of Education First at the end of this season. Sign with the Australian team for the next two years.

Tanel Kangert will not continue in 2021 in the ranks of Education First. The 33-year-old Estonian has signed with the Mitchelton-Scott team for the next two seasons, which will be a luxurious reinforcement for Simon Yates' interests in the grand tours. It will not be like that for his brother Adam, as from next year he will defend the colors of Ineos.

The Estonian has plenty of experience in achieving successes for his leaders, as in the past he was part of the Astana line-up that helped Vincenzo Nibali in three of his grand tour triumphs: two Giros and a Tour. On an individual level, Kangert has triumphs in the Tour of Switzerland and the general classification of the Tour of Abu Dhabi.

"The team contacted me many years ago and somehow it escaped me, but the project has always seemed interesting to me. It is one of the teams that has the most fun on the road; professional, but fun at the same time, what it does make it easier to stay focused and have big goals, "explained the motivated Estonian in the Mitchelton official statement.
