Hvideberg wins in the rain and is European U23 champion

The Norwegian rider managed to get into the good cut on the final stage to take the victory. Carlos Rodríguez and Raúl García Pierna, in the Top-20.

Jonas Hvideberg, who came very close to being proclaimed Norwegian road champion last week, took the thorn in the Plouay Europeans with the conquest of the title in the sub-23 category. The Norwegian cyclist beat the Danish Anton Charmig and the Czech Vojtech Repa in a race that was even tougher in the final stage because of the rain.

Norway set the tone in the opening laps of the Plouay circuit before on lap four, Debeaumarche and Kulset tried to jump out of the group, although they were neutralized shortly after. Since then the movements in the group did not stop following one another until on the seventh lap Gebner, Van der Berg and Repa opened a distance of two minutes with the peloton before a group that Xabier Mikel Azparren got into tried to hunt them down.

The heavy rain turned the last laps into a real torture for the riders and several cyclists from the chasing group such as Charming, Gessner, Ferron, Kron, Vernon and Hvideberg managed to hunt down the leading trio. Despite the pressure of the peloton, this group managed to have enough advantage to dispute the victory at the sprint and in the flyby Jonas Hvideberg was the fastest to win the gold medal ahead of Charmig and Repa, while Carlos Rodríguez and Raúl García Leg arrived in the peloton in 14th and 17th positions respectively.
