Evenepoel locomotive

Remco Evenepoel achieved victory in the fourth stage of the Tour of Poland. He marched 40 kilometers to go and won alone. He is the new leader.

Where is this boy going? That's what many thought when they saw Remco Evenepoel start on the fourth stage of the Tour of Poland. There were 40 kilometers to go to the finish (in a day of 152) and two ports (one of them was not scoring). A utopia, or not ... The Belgian continues to show great ease in achieving feats and this Saturday made it clear again. He sped off with blazing speed and blew up the platoon. Some brave man tried to follow him, but on this train there is only a ticket for him. Fuglsang stayed at 1'48 ", and the group with the rest of the favorites, which stayed in ten units, (Simon Yates and Maja finished in the middle) at 3'05" .

Evenepoel took the final rus of the day as a time trial. He put one point more than the group and was able to maintain it, both in a few minutes he was already with an income in his favor of almost a minute. He kept it smooth. The Ineos, of the Carapaz leader, tried to stop him, but to no avail. In addition, the Ecuadorian had fallen with 66 kilometers to go. Sheet metal and paint seemed, but with the pace of the race in the final part it became long and ended up leaving more time with the squad of favorites.

Remco's display was absolute. In the last elevation of the day it did not count for the mountain classifications, but it did serve Evenepoel. He increased his lead to 1 minute and 20 seconds. He had nine kilometers ahead of broken ground and it pitted upward for the last three kilometers. Fainting? Of the rest, because the Deceuninck rider had time to increase his advantage even more. He only loosened in the final hundred meters, when he took the number of his teammate Fabio Jakobsen out of his pocket, to whom he dedicated the victory. With this victory, he adds another stage (5 in 2020) and is within reach of his fourth stage race of the year (second after confinement after winning in Burgos). This Sunday he must defend 1'52 "in a day of 188 kilometers and what is expected to end in the sprint, since he has favorable terrain in the second half of the day.
