Evenepoel and Jakobsen exchange messages of encouragement

The Belgian published on his Instagram a screenshot of his conversation with the Dutchman in which both were encouraged after his serious falls.

Remco Evenepoel and Fabio Jakobsen, teammates in the Deceuninck-QuickStep, have in common being two young riders who have burst into the world peloton with force. In addition, both cyclists have suffered serious falls in the last month.

Fabio Jakobsen was pushed by Dylan Groenewegen against the hurdles at the arrival of the first stage of the Tour of Poland. The Dutchman came to be in a coma with serious injuries to his face and, despite being out of danger, he himself declared having feared for his life. Soon after, Remco Evenepoel also froze the hearts of fans by falling off a bridge during a descent in the Giro de Lombardia, fracturing his pelvis and saying goodbye to the remainder of the season.

While recovering, Evenepoel and Jakobsen support each other, knowing what they are suffering these days. This Saturday, the Belgian shared on his Instagram a capture of a conversation with the Dutchman. "I'm doing my best, as you do too, my friend! You are a strong bear", Evenepoel told Fabio.

"Keep fighting mate, I'm proud of your first steps," replied Jakobsen. "Dude, it's tough, but remember what I told you, you taught me something that I didn't have inside of me. And that doesn't come out of my head. The fact that you and I are alive still means that cycling hasn't said its last word with us ", sentenced Evenepoel.

Both runners are united by a great friendship. Remco dedicated his victory to Fabio in the fourth stage of the Tour of Poland. Now, with the two cyclists already in their countries, they have a recovery process ahead of them to be able to resume their promising trajectories.
