Egan Bernal did not finish the Critérium del Dauphiné as a preventive measure for back pain. Sports director Gabriel Rasch pointed out that the Colombian could have finished, but having the Tour de France so close, they decided to give him rest for his full recovery.

This Tuesday several rumors arose about the loss of the current champion, however, the French newspaper Le Dauphiné Libéré confirmed that Ineos returned to training with Egan Bernal included. Also there were: Chris Froome, Geraint Thomas, Jonathan Castroviejo, Michał Kwiatkowski, Dylan van Baarle, Pavel Sivakov.

Ineos recognized the Col de la Loze, the end of stage 17 of the Tour, which will be on September 16 and will start marking the favorites to wear the yellow jersey to Paris. Egan Bernal's main objective is to defend the title and, although Jumbo and Roglic have been strong, the Colombian wants to fight alongside the British team.

Two weeks into the Tour de France, Egan hopes to recover from his back pain for the race that begins on August 29 and ends on September 20. Until now, the Colombian will continue to be one of the three leaders of the team.
