The paths of Borussia Dortmund and Reinier Jesus (18 years old) have crossed now, but they could well have done so at the beginning of this year or in 2019. The German club tried to sign the Brazilian and there were conversations with the agents and the player's family, who were delighted with the project ... until Real Madrid appeared, which in January paid its clause and signed it until 2026.

Reinier's plan was to leave Brazil for Europe with an intermediate step in his career. The objective was to go to an offensive soccer team and that would assure him minutes, but at the same time that he was in the upper zone of the classification in his country and even fought for titles. With those requirements, Dortmund headed a list that also included Ajax and even Everton. They were considered ideal destinations to line up the end of their training, a first experience in the elite and then projected to the top of the continent.

Some time ago, the Dortmund scouting department had already put Michael Zorc on the Reinier track. They began to follow him both at the Flamengo base and at the lower ranks of Brazil, where he always stood out. "It is the future 10 of the National Team", they told this newspaper from the Brazilian Football Confederation. The sports director knew how to move very well, exposing to the then flamenguista the advantages of choosing the Signal Iduna Park for his development. There was no other option due to the emergence of Madrid.

With Juni Calafat at the helm, from the Bernabéu they strongly joined the fight to win over Reinier. The presented roadmap seduced the midfielder and his family, Madridistas and aware that Madrid cannot be said no: first, Castilla with a myth like Raúl, in a dream facility that they had known months ago; later, training sessions under Zidane in the first squad; finally, the debut and progressive prominence with the elders.

Thus, Reinier was convinced of something that at first he had not thought about, who signed when he reached the age of majority, during the Pre-Olympic dispute in Colombia. Now, to a greater extent because the quota of non-EU citizens is covered, it has to go out. Madrid and he fully trust that it is to return. Meanwhile, it will be confirmed in one of the best teams for this, a Dortmund that already wanted to dress him in yellow in the past.
