Djokovic and Nadal, in the list of registered of Rome

Rafa Nadal, who will not play in the US hard court tour, and Novak Djokovic, who will go to New York, are on the list of players at the Masters 1,000 in Rome.


The Internazionali of Rome announced its list of entries for the 2020 edition of the 1,000 Masters to be held in the Italian capital from September 14 to 21, which will feature the world's number one, Novak Djokovic, and the number two, Rafa Nadal.

The Serbian, who will be on the American hard court mini-tour (Cincinnati and US Open from August 22), but will be able to attend the Roman tournament if he does not suffer any setback, since the Italian authorities allow the arrival of top athletes to the country level without first going through a 15-day quarantine, as long as they prove that they are not infected by COVID-19 48 hours before the sale. Nadal, for his part, resigned from the New York bubble to focus on the gravel campaign and will make his post-confinement debut at the Foro Italico, where he defends the title won precisely against Djokovic last year. This is how he will prepare his return to Roland Garros (September 27 to October 11).

The list of players includes all the top-10 players except Roger Federer, who decided to end the season to recover from his knee injury, and there are two other Spaniards, Roberto Bautista and Pablo Carreño. Kevin Anderson enters with protected ranking and Casper Ruud in the place left by Federer. Among the alternatives, in case there are resignations or casualties, there are people at the level of Marin Cilic, Sam Querrey, Jo-Wilfred Tsonga, Richard Gasquet and the Spanish Albert Ramos, Fernando Verdasco, Pablo Andújar and Feliciano López. The tournament will grant four invitations and places for eight players from the previous one and another eight with special exemptions to complete the main draw of 56.
