The Portuguese Luis Castro, coach of Shakhtar Donetsk, recognized the merits of Inter Milan, who overwhelmed them 5-0 in the semifinals of the Europa League, and admitted that this setback "will stay" in his mind.

"Mentally, it is a difficult day for us. Inter won and we couldn't play our football. In the first half we had one chance and in the second we had another, which we couldn't take advantage of," Castro said at a press conference.

"We could not react after the goals and Inter in the end thrashed. The path in the Europa League has been optimal, but this defeat will remain in our minds. We must congratulate Inter," he added.

Doubles by Argentine Lautaro Martínez and Belgian Romelu Lukaku, together with a goal from Danilo D'Ambrosio, gave Inter Milan a resounding 5-0 victory against Shakhtar Donetsk in the semifinals on Monday and qualified the Milanese club for the final this Friday in Cologne against Sevilla.

Despite his disappointment, Castro stressed that his players have made a good path overall in the Europa League.

"But we have not reached the semifinal by chance. We will not forget the defeat but neither the way we did, we played excellent matches. We must correct the errors and look forward," he said.
