Carla Suárez is forced to resign from the Western & Southern Open, whose preliminary phase begins on August 20 in New York, due to the medical illness that she has been suffering in recent weeks. The Canary Islands, who have experienced outbreaks of general malaise in their training routines, is subject to the evolution of their clinical picture over the next few days.

"During the last weeks I have not been able to train normally due to the internal sensations that physical activity produces in me," says Carla from Barcelona, where her preparation plan has been interrupted since the middle of July. “This has prevented me from completing training sessions on the track and has severely limited my activity in the gym.”

Suárez has undergone different medical tests to try to identify the origin of his symptoms, without a clear diagnosis to date. This next week you will undergo a PET CT scan, aimed at exploring the thoracic area, in order to determine the cause of the discomfort.

“I will follow medical recommendations at all times. This next week I need to complete more tests and this forces me to postpone my planned trip to New York. We are going to observe the evolution of these days, the results of these checks and that will determine my decision about the US Open. ”

Prudence obliges Carla to rest in general while waiting to be able to make a final decision on her participation in the Flushing Meadows Grand Slam, whose main draw begins on August 31st.
