Aberasturi finishes third in Wackermann's double

The Italian took the win and the lead in the first stage of the Limousin. The Spaniard from Caja Rural finished in the third drawer of the podium.

Italian Luca Wackermann (Vini Zabú) is the first leader of the 53rd edition of the Limousin Tour by winning the inaugural stage between Couzeix and Evaux-Les-Bains, with a distance of 183.5 kilometers.

The transalpine cyclist attacked 2 kilometers from the finish line and reached a difference of 7 seconds that were enough to raise his arms with a time of 4h.30.27, ahead of the British from the continental team of Groupama FDJ and the Spanish Jon Aberasturi, from Caja Rural Insurance RGA.

In the first kilometers, an outpost of 4 runners with a Spanish presence was organized, Iker Ballarin (Euskaltel-Euskadi), who joined Hurel (St-Michel-Auber 93), Brand (Novo Nordisk), and Petelin (Vini Zabu). The 4 endured the adventure 100 kilometers, until the formation of the next 50 from the finish line with another Spaniard, Delio Fernandez (Nippo Delko), the Colombian from Caja Rural Alejandro Osorio, Le Gac (Groupama-FDJ) and Suter (Bingoal Wallonie) .

Another quarrelsome quartet, but with the same luck as the previous one. The impulse of the UAE Emirates thinking of a sprint for the Colombian Fernando Gaviria ruined the escape 37 kilometers from the Evaux-Les-Bains goal. The second and final passage through the Cota de Chatelet was the scene of the last attempts at rebellion. Luca Wackermann came in with 3 other runners. The Italian tried his luck at 2 goal luck and managed to resist the pressure of the peloton to reach the second win in the Tour del Limousin.

This Wednesday the second stage will take the platoon from the Base Départementale de Rouffiac to the Grand Etang de Saint-Estèph, with another undulating route of 173.9 kilometers.
