The Trek: Porte, Mollema and Pedersen al Tour and Nibali, the Giro

The Trek announced its plans for two of the three big laps this season. Nibali will go for the home race. Porte and Mollema, from leaders to the Tour.


Italian Vincenzo Nibali, one of the 7 riders in the history of the big three winners, will be the trick for the general of the Giro d'Italia for the American formation Trek Segafredo, while the Australian Richie Porte and the Dutchman Bauke Mollema will be the captains in the Tour de France.

The Trek has a group of 9 riders for the Tour two months after its start, with the idea of forming a strong team for the mountain. Joining Porte and Mollema will be Danish world champion Mads Pedersen. Climbers Niklas Eg or Kenny Elissonde, and fast runners like Jasper Stuyven and Edward Theuns, will also perform at the Nice start on August 29 with options to win stages while helping their leaders.

For the Giro (October 3 to 25), "Shark" Vincenzo Nibali, 35, will take the chevrons in search of his third pink jersey. He will surround himself with good climbers, including Giulio Ciccone, the best climber of the 2019 edition, Gianluca Brambilla, winner of a stage in 2016, Pieter Weening or even the French Julien Bernard.
