Deaf: the MotoGP 'driver'

Quartararo and Morbidelli enjoyed driving the Cantabrian in their Hyundai i20 of the World Championship in an Italian section. "An unforgettable experience".

Luxury 'driver' for two MotoGP stars. Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli have known first-hand what it feels like to be Carlos del Barrio. Dani Sordo took them as co-drivers in his Hyundai i20 of the World Championship in an Italian section, and both, in addition to other drivers from other categories who also attended the event, were delighted with the experience.

The Hyundai team organized a day on an asphalt section of Il Ciocco, in Tuscany, to twin rallies and motorcycling. For the four-wheel drive, Sordo attended with his 'world rally car' and Umberto Scandola with the I20 R5 with which he races in WRC3. From the two wheels, in addition to Quartararo and Morbidelli, Marco Bezzecchi, Luca Marini, Andrea Migno and Celestino Vietti also attended. They were able to drive in the small car, and they were passengers of Sordo.

"It was a lot of fun," said the Spaniard, who was piloting the i20 WRC for the first time in months. “I am a huge fan of two-wheeled sport, so it is great to see our worlds come together. It has been a pleasure to be back in the seat of our Hyundai, even if only in a short distance, and to share the experience with the drivers. I know Fabio quite well because we both live in Andorra and occasionally train together. Everyone got very involved and it seems like they had fun. I have great respect for what they do on two wheels, so it was good to share a rally experience with them. ”

Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing driver Fabio Quartararo commented that “it was a really enjoyable experience, first of all driving the i20 R5. Unfortunately it was only a couple laps, but driving a rally car is very special. The joint driving experience in both the R5 and the WRC was enjoyable and incredible. I think it is one of the best experiences I have had. You really feel the speed and it's amazing how fast they can go on such a narrow road, so I hope to go back again and drive a little bit more. ”
