The Deceuninck Quick-Step signs the sprinter Sam Bennett

The Belgian squad confirmed the signing of the Irish sprinter and Shane Archbold for the next two seasons. Bennett will supply Elia Viviani's exit.

Deceuninck Quick-Step confirmed on Tuesday what was an open secret: the signing of the Irish sprinter Sam Bennett after his separation from the Bora-Hansgrohe. Bennett will be the team's reference in the sprints for the next two seasons after Elia Viviani's exit to Cofidis. Next to him will come the New Zealander Shane Archbold, one of the cyclists who make up his train in mass arrivals.

Bennett, Irish but born in Belgium and tanned in the Vélo Club La Pomme de Marseille, has consolidated in recent seasons as one of the most prominent sprinters of the platoon and already accumulates 42 victories in his record, including five stages in the Great Laps.

Bennett himself was very excited about signing in statements to the Deceuninck Quick-Step. "I am proud to sign with the Deceuninck Quick-Step, the team I had a poster hanging on the wall when I was a child. I remember going to a race with An Post and seeing the Quick-Step in the races and I was impressed with that great team. I never thought it would be good enough to sign with them, and now I am able to say that shooting with them is a dream come true and I can't wait to work and run with these guys. It’s an overwhelming task to run with this team, but it's motivating and challenging. It's great to have Shane Archbold too. I'm very happy for him. Having a friend and partner next to him will make the job easier. "
