Concern in Barcelona: Arthur does not start

In the club they recognize being with the fly behind the ear because the Brazilian midfielder has not just made clean with his problems in the pubis.

Since Arthur Melo landed in Barcelona two years ago, his name has been associated with two slabs: Xavi Hernández and injuries. From the first day he wanted to compare the legendary Blaugrana player in his game, since in a way his way of handling the field harbored more than one similarity, especially when driving the ball and protecting the ball by turning in itself, in a play that Xavi patented with great success.

These comparisons, which at first generated a lot of enthusiasm in the culé environment, have begun to be gradually restricted, especially due to the irregularity it has shown in the field. In fact, Ernesto Valverde himself acknowledged earlier this season that he expected a more vertical and more ambitious Arthur when looking at goal. And it seemed that the Brazilian midfielder had listened to his coach because this course premiered as a scorer and twice: Osasuna (2-2) and Villarreal (2-1) .

However, the player has not just started. This season it seemed that it was going to be the third leg of an invincible midfield with Sergio Busquets and De Jong with great entertainers, but the international has remained in the lurch because of its irregularity and injuries. His best moment of play came at the end of September when he chained three straight games playing the 90 minutes (Villareal, Getafe and Inter), but it was simply a mirage because from here his appearances began to space, giving way to more experienced players as Rakitic and Arturo Vidal.

The problem is exacerbated because of injuries, which have never abandoned the Brazilian. His first major setback was a broken biceps femoris of the left leg last season that left him a month off the pitch, which was joined by a subsequent pubalgia that is taking him to a dead end.

These discomforts in the pubis began to turn against him at the end of last year and he has not yet done clean. In fact, right now it is undefined and there are no deadlines for its return, since the intention of the club is to try to permanently eradicate this injury. The problem is that in many cases pubalgia ends up becoming chronic and becomes an injury of difficult resolution. The player is following a special plan that could be extended for the next two weeks, so his return to the pitch could be delayed until the beginning of the year.
