What happened to Atlético de Villa?

The Spaniard announced his retirement after being a league champion in 2014 with 13 goals. So it has gone to the 25 players who had minutes in that championship.

David Villa announced last Wednesday his retirement at the end of the season after years and years of goals and sports successes. The striker was one of the architects of the Atlético Liga champion in the 2013/14 season, the last red and white league title and the last team of the guaje in Spain before heading to more exotic places. Villa scored 13 goals in the competition, plus two more between the Spanish Cup and Super Cup to leave an indelible mark on Atlético. So it has gone to the 25 players who had minutes in the historic league title.

Courtois: The undisputed goalkeeper in the league title. The Belgian played 37 games, all but in Almeria, where he conceded 24 goals and left the door to zero 20 times. In his third year followed by Chelsea, he settled down as one of the best goalkeepers in the world and left Atlético as a well-liked footballer, something that was evident in his visit with the blues. However, in the summer of 2018 he signed for Real Madrid, becoming one of the great villains for the fans. White has not done as well as at Atlético, with 60 goals conceded in 49 games.

Aranzubía: The goal Achievement did not have a good appearance in the League, playing against Almeria and eventually ejected by an arbitration error in a match in which Atlético fell 2-0. His participation was limited to five games, three of them Cup and one Champions. The goal was retired a year later and began working as a goalkeeper coach, where he is currently part of Athletic B.

Juanfran: Since this summer he separated from Atlético as a club legend (eight and a half seasons). Converted to the right back, the year of the league title flew by the band game after game, playing 35 games and distributing six assists in the competition. With 34 years he decided to leave and headed to the Brazilian São Paulo. In his new destination, where he shares squad with Dani Alves, he has played 12 games so far and in the last matches he has started from the bench.

Manquillo: The youth player had three games in the league with the first team in the 2013/14 academic year, seven counting all competitions. Although it was one of the great promises in defense and an important progression was expected on the right side, it has failed to explode. Although it is still on time, since it is 25 years old and is part of Newcastle, but it is usually substitute. Atletico he was assigned to Liverpool, Olympique de Marseille and Sunderland until he was transferred to the magpies.

Miranda: 32 games of the Brazilian in the center of the rear to make history in the League (52 counting the rest of competitions). The player who is currently 35 years old formed a magnificent back couple with Godín and that year shone as one of the great defenders of the competition. To his safety back he added two capital goals for the title. In the 2015/16 season Miranda headed to Italy after four courses as a mattress maker. He signed for Inter, where he also participated four seasons before leaving last summer to China, to the Jiangsu Suning in which he is very senior.

Godín: The goal of the title, unforgettable both in the Camp Nou to sign the tie that gave LaLiga to Atlético. Captain rojiblanco last season, the Uruguayan is surely one of the most important players in the mattress history. His goal against Barcelona was the fourth of that League and the seventh of the season, when he came an eighth in the Champions League final. Last summer he took the path of Miranda, his fundamental partner for four seasons, and left for Inter. In the Italian team he has 760 minutes so far in 10 games. The great interist dream is to fight the league against Juventus.

Alderweireld: Last minute signing for the departure of Demichelis without debuting, the Belgian was the first alternative for Godín and Miranda with the option of being able to play on the right side. His only course as a rojiblanco was successful, but he decided to leave a year later after seeing ownership very complicated. In Atleti he played 22 games, 12 of the League scoring a goal against Malaga in the penultimate day that could be worth half a title, but finally the victory did not come. After an assignment in Southampton, Tottenham took over its services until it became one of the most sought-after headquarters of the Premier. He has been in the spurs for five seasons.

Giménez: One of the three league champions that remain in the Atlético squad. In the 2013/14 season he only played a league game, in the victory against Almeria at home. His role today is completely different, since at 24 he is the leader of the defense and one of the great defenses of today.

Filipe Luis: Like Juanfran, he left last summer for Brazil, although in his case Flamengo. The Brazilian is one of the best left-backs in Atlético's history after living eight rojiblanco seasons with a break from a course at Chelsea in between, one year after the league title. In the Brazilian team it is already capital, with 18 games played between four of the Copa Libertadores and will play the final against River.

Insúa: Alternate left back, had six league games in the 2013/14 title. He is currently 30 years old and has been part of German Stuttgart since he left Atlético in the summer of 2015, a year after playing on loan at Rayo Vallecano. His rojiblanco role was always a substitute for Filipe.

Tiago: The starting pivot in the league title, where he played 23 games and scored two goals. Only the injuries stopped the Portuguese, an excellent player in the position. Tiago retired from football in the summer of 2017 after eight seasons as an Atlético player, a key piece since before the arrival of Simeone and champion of the Europa League of 2010. After hanging up the boots he was part of the Cholo coaching staff, but decided fly solo and replaced Nelson Vivas.

Mario Suárez: Canterano mattress, had 17 league games in that historic course. The pivot left Atlético in the summer of 2015 after five consecutive seasons in the first team (six in total if its first stage is counted). Since then he played in Fiorentina, Watford, Valencia, Guizhou Zhicheng Chinese before returning to Madrid to play in the Ray, where he lives his second course.

Guilavogui: A minute in the league was all the French played in that title. He only spent six months in the team, participating mainly in the Cup. Without opportunities and without being liked by Simeone, he signed that same January for Wolfsburg, who exercised the purchase option after two years of successful assignment. In Germany it has been an important piece and faces its sixth season in the club.

Gabi: The captain and soul of the champion team. The '14' would end up raising the title and becoming the extension of Simeone on the field. He left Atlético two summers ago, but he is still being remembered in every game. The mattress quarry lived nine seasons in the first team, seven in a row, before receiving an irreproachable offer from Qatari Al-Sadd. With 36 years this season adds 15 games in the team led by Xavi.

Koke: Now captain of the ship, that 2013/14 season was probably the best of the vallecano in his career. LaLiga finished with 36 games played, six goals and 14 assists, extraordinary figures for a midfielder. With 27 years and accumulates 432 games with the first team and if nothing goes wrong will beat Adelardo (550) as a player with more games played in the history of Atletico.

Oliver: At that time, the quarry's jewel, the Extremaduran midfielder began to take his first steps in the first course, where he played seven games and scored a goal within 14 seconds of a match against Betis, all early. He was 19 years old and it seemed that his career would be rojiblanca, leaving on loan in the same January of 2014 to gain experience in Villarreal. After another transfer to Porto and a year back at Atlético, he signed for the Portuguese team from which he left last summer to play for Sevilla. With Lopetegui as a great supporter he is taking minutes in the Hispanic team.

José Sosa: Winter signing at the express request of Simeone. His role focused mainly on the stopped ball to get a total of five assists in the 15 league games he played in Atlético. The Argentine, who is currently 34 years old, is part of the Turkish Trabzonspor. The Cholo did not see with bad eyes his continuity in the Athletic one, but the agreement with the Metalist did not arrive and since then he played in the Besiktas and in the Milan before arriving in 2018 in his present equipment.

Diego Ribas: The other winter signing of that year, although in the case of the Brazilian he had already played in the 2011/12 season in Atlético. His second stage was not as productive as the first and in the League he played 13 games in which he achieved a goal, in his redebut against Real Sociedad. He is currently Filipe's partner in Flamengo, where they aspire to the Copa Libertadores. Player of pure talent, after Atlético played at Fenerbahçe before joining the Brazilian club in 2016.

Arda Turan: Quality and character from the left wing. The Turk played 30 matches, scoring three goals and distributing four assists being a basic piece in the Simeone scheme. The player responsible for pausing the team and putting criteria in the mattress attack. He played four seasons at Atlético, becoming one of the most beloved players for the fans until he decided to sign for Barcelona. Since then, his career went downhill, without making a hole in his year and a half at the Blaugrana club and returning to Turkey to play at Basaksehir, where he is more famous for his extra-sports performances than on the field. He was sentenced to two years and eight months in jail after showing up at a hospital, drawing a gun and firing several shots after a fight at a nightclub, but the sentence was suspended, so he will not go to prison unless he commits another crime in the five year period. This course has 10 games.

Cebolla Rodriguez: Substitute for luxury, had 20 games in the league title. He scored a goal and gave an assist in that year. In total he played two and a half courses at Atlético, before leaving for Parma, then to the Argentine Guild and Independent prior to his return to Peñarol, where he left as a player. He is 34 years old and in 2019 he has played 29 games and scored six goals.

Raúl García: The arrival par excellence. Despite not starting as an undisputed holder, in total he played 34 league games that season, scoring 9 goals and adding three assists. An excellent header with a great distant shot and an intensity and strength suitable for Simeone. It was Raúl García himself who chose to leave in 2015 to sign for Athletic, where he is in his fifth season. This course, with 33 years, has 13 meetings and four goals and each visit to the Wanda Metropolitano is a reason for partying for the fans with the return of one of their dearest players.

Diego Costa: The third member of that squad that follows in Atlético. He has currently suffered a cervical disc herniation that will have him out for at least three months. This year he has not found the goal, but in that 2013/14 he was the real killer of the team. He finished with 27 goals in the League (36 among all competitions) and was the star of the league champion. That summer he went to Chelsea, playing three years in the Premier before returning to Atlético. His second stage has not been good, but in those years he was the ideal forward for Simeone.

Villa: A single course at Atlético arriving from Barcelona. At 32, he seemed to be in a downhill race, but his rojiblanco course was fantastic. Atlético wanted its continuity, but the Spaniard decided to go out and try other leagues. He played in the United States (with a short period in Australia) and after four years in New York City he went to play in Japan, to Vissel Kobe where he announced his goodbye to football.

Adrian: His shot against Malaga on the penultimate day could be worth the title, but Caballero avoided it with a great intervention in the discount. Finally it had to be at the Camp Nou where Atlético was proclaimed champion. The Spaniard played three seasons in Atletico before starting to go testing equipment to try to recover the level of red and white shown in the 2011/12 academic year. He played in Porto, Villarreal and Deportivo before disembarking in Osasuna, where he currently has six games.

Leo Baptistao: The first six months of that course were with the Brazilian on the roster. He played only five games in the league as an athletic before leaving on loan to Betis. After this he returned to the Rayo ceded, then went to Villarreal, Espanyol and last summer he went to the Chinese Wuhan Zall with only 27 years. In his new club he has 7 goals in 25 games.
