Jon Rahm rises to third place in the ranking after winning in Dubai

The Basque golfer climbed from the fifth to the third position of the classification after winning the DT World Tour Championship and closing the year as number 1 of the European circuit.

The Spaniard Jon Rahm went on Monday from fifth to third position in the world golf ranking, thanks to his coronation in the DT World Tour Championship played at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai.

The ranking update leaves Jon Rahm in third place to one of his best historical rankings.

The 25-year-old Barrika player has 8.2919 points on average. He is surpassed by the American Brooks Koepka, with 11.1510, and the Norwegian Rory McIlroy, with 10.0860.

This week completes the trio of aces Jon Rahm, having won the DT World Tour Championship, the grand final of the European circuit.

To the 3 million dollars that the triumph in the tournament reported to him, the Biscayan added an additional bonus of 2 million for having finished as leader of the Race to Dubai.

Jon Rahm holds the number 1 European circuit at the close of the season, where he has added 6 titles - four of them from the Rolex Series - since his jump to professionalism just over three years ago.

In 2019, he won the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, the Mutuactivos Open de España and the DT World Tour Championship. With these titles he managed to emulate his great idol, Severiano Ballesteros, and become the second Spaniard to reach number 1 in the European circuit.
