The Organizing Committee of the Gulf Cup of Nations, whose 24th edition is currently held in Doha, decided that one of the semifinals will take place on December 5 at Al Janoub Stadium, the second of the stadiums ready to host the World Cup matches of 2022. It should be noted that the headquarters of the International Khalifa (the first stadium for the World Cup) and Abd Allah Ben Khalifa at Al Duhail Club host the matches of the selections of both groups in the first phase.

For the 2022 World Cup, two stadiums were inaugurated so far. The first was Khalifa in May 2017 and the second was Al Janoub in May 2019. On December 18, the stadium of the City of Education will be inaugurated during the FIFA Club World Cup that will take place from 11 to December 21 in the capital of Qatar, Doha.

Also, in the middle of next year, three other stadiums will open, as announced by Hasan Al Thawady, the General Secretary of the Delivery and Legacy Committee (responsible for projects and initiatives for the 2022 World Cup). These stadiums will be: Al Bayt, Al Rayyan, and Al Thumama.

It is worth mentioning that Qatar plans to have all stadiums prepared for the World Cup at least at the end of 2021, keeping in mind that the Ras Abu Aboud and Lusail stadiums will receive the inaugural World Cup match and its final respectively.
