Djokovic overwhelms Shapovalov: "The shoulder is fine"

The number one had no problems with the member of the NextGen (20 years and 36 of the world) and will be measured tomorrow to John Isner (08:00) in the round of 16.

Novak Djokovic stopped the feet of another member of the NextGen, the generation destined to 'retire' the Serbian, Nadal and Federer. He defeated Denis Shapovalov (20 years and 36 of the ranking) by a double 6-3 in his premiere at the Shanghai Masters, in which he defends title and 1,000 points that seem vital to sustain his number one by the end of the year with the balear very close.

"It's nice to be back and, above all, playing as I have done," said the champion, who has forgotten the physical problems that made him withdraw from the US Open and has just won the Tokyo ATP 500. "I served well, I used the angles and I was solid. Besides, I had no problems with my shoulder, so everything was going well," he finished.

In eighths, John Isner will be measured this Thursday (around 08:00, Movistar Deportes), who managed 19 aces with no break point against to win Lucas Pouille 7-5 and 6-3.
