Cofidis goes up to the World Tour and the Arkea de Nairo stays out

The UCI made official the list of teams that will compete in the top category next season. Enter Cofidis and Direct-Energie and Wanty will have a place in major races.


The International Cycling Union has published this Thursday the list of teams that will have a UCI World Tour license in the period between 2020 and 2022 and that will have their place secured in the main calendar appointments

This list shows the names of the 18 teams that have competed in the UCI World Tour this season (the Israel Cycling Academy will compete in 2020 with the Katusha license after reaching an agreement) plus that of the Cofidis team, the main novelty in this Listing

The French squad, which next season will feature in its ranks cyclists such as the Italian Elia Viviani, the French Guillaume Martin or the Spaniards Fernando Barceló, Jesús and José Herrada and Luis Ángel Maté won the candidacy of the Arkéa-Samsic of Nairo Quintana or Warren Barguil, who must wait to climb to the top category

The UCI has also announced the two teams that have achieved their classification for the UCI World Tour calendar events. This Wednesday we knew that the Direct-Energie will receive invitations for all the UCI World Tour events, including Giro, Tour and Vuelta, while the Wanty-Gobert will receive automatic invitation to all the tests of the new UCI Classic Series.
