Granollers debuts big with Zeballos winning in Canada

It is the third Masters 1,000 in doubles for Granollers, after Rome 2012 (with Lopez) and Paris 2018 (with Rajeev Ram), and the 18th in total.

The Spanish tennis player Marcel Granollers signed the dreamed debut with his doubles partner Horacio Zeballos on Sunday winning the Montreal tournament, sixth Masters 1,000 of the season, where they beat in the final (7-5, 7-5) the pair of Netherlands Robin Haase and Wesley Koolhof. 444444

Spanish and Argentine emulated the Spanish-Argentine victory in Canada of Manuel Orantes and Guillermo Vilas in 1974. The high percentage of first serves allowed Zeballos and Granollers not to suffer with their serve, although neither did the Dutch grant a break option until the key moment. 444444

In both sets the break came in the twelfth game. For Granollers, 'Maestro' in 2012 with Marc López, is the third Masters 1,000 in doubles, after Rome 2012 (with López) and Paris 2018 (with Rajeev Ram), and the 18th in total.
