Barça confirms the resignation of Jordi Mestre two hours after being public

The club issues a statement in which the former vice president appreciates the trust deposited in him by presidents Rosell and Bartomeu.


The FC Barcelona confirmed by a statement at 23:10 pm of the night the resignation of Jordi Mestre as sports vice president of the entity, news that was an open secret and confirmed from before 9:00 pm on Wednesday.

In the press release, Barcelona confirms the "irrevocable" dict of Mestre and summarizes his career as a director of the entity, which he joined in the summer of 2010 as part of the candidacy of Sandro Rosell as the head of formative football.

Following the elections of July 18, 2015, with Bartomeu leading the winning bid, Mestre confirmed his position as sports vice president who agreed to the resignation of Rosell.

The statement specified that Mestre "wants to thank the trust they placed in he presidents Rosell and Bartomeu, as well as the opportunity to defend and serve with honor the interests of FC B arcelona ".

Mestre had to present Friday as sports vice president to Frenkie de Jong as a new Barcelona player. It is not specified in the statement who will be the one who will occupy his position in a period like the summer in which the market is in its decisive phase.
