Thomas: "The competition this year in the Tour is tougher"

The Briton, current champion of the Tour de France, gave an interview to The Telegraph in which he added that "there are many cyclists who can reach the podium".

Once the Giro d'Italia has been consumed, cyclists are already looking at the next great stage lap, the Tour de France (July 6 and 28, 2019). Geraint Thomas is the defender of the title and has given an interview in The Telegraph in which he analyzes his options to revalidate his victory in the Grande Boucle. The British speaks openly and recognizes that in 2019 it will be more difficult. "Everybody is improving, the competition is harder this year, I think there are many cyclists who could reach the podium," he said.

Despite this greater struggle, the Briton arrives "more confident than ever". "I just have to follow the philosophy I've always had, which is to do the best I can, I can not change how van Dumoulin, Yates, Porte, Kruijswijk or Roglic," said Thomas, who will compete again in the Tour de Suisse ( June 15-23) .

From its season to the moment (Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, Stade Bianche, Tirreno, Tour of the Basque Country and Tour de Romandia), the INEOS cyclist highlights the good feelings of the last, Romandia, in the one that was third in the general. " Obviously, Romandía was nice to get a small result and an increase in confidence, I think we're on the right track now," he concluded.
