Real Valladolid will travel for the third time to America

After the experiences of the years 1963 and 1981, the club chaired by Ronaldo will cross the pond again to play in the United States and Canada from 9 to 21 July.

It can not be said that Real Valladolid was a very traveling club. Although lately he has done some preseason or friendly matches for Europe, he has only crossed the pond (the Atlantic Ocean) twice during his history and in the month of July he will do it for the third time moving to California, in the United States, and Canada, from July 9 to 21.

The first time was in July 1963. Real Valladolid had just sealed their best ever, fourth in the league with Ramallets at the front, although that tour was already as coach Ángel Zubieta , who would take over the team the following campaign. The good classification of Valladolid did not go unnoticed and earned him to be invited to a tournament in New York for which he collected $ 6,000 at the time. The United States was trying to make known a discipline such as football, practically unknown at the time, although the team had a massive reception by the Spanish colony in the city of skyscrapers. There he played five games, on July 4 he lost 1-0 to the Austrian Wiener, on 11 he was 5-2 against Dinamo Zagreb, 14 again 5-1 against Polish Gornik, drew against Os Belenenses 2- 2 on 21 and ended the tour on the 25th with victory 1-2 against Swedish Helsingborg. In between also played a match against Hungarian Ujpest with victory 1-2 in Chicope (Bostón) within the tournament in which there were two groups.

The second time the team traveled to America happened in the month of June 1981. El Pucela had promoted to First in the 79-80. In his return to First he was quite good with Paquito as conductor. He finished 12th with 31 points in a League that Real Sociedad won ahead of Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid which were second and third respectively. The presence of the Honduran Gilberto in the team at that time (it was signed by 28 million pesetas) led to the contacts for Valladolid to end up organizing a tour of different countries of Central America at the end of the course: Honduras, Costa Rica and Venezuela. It was the month of June of that 1981, Ramón Martínez was the technical secretary of a club run by the incombustible Gonzalo Alonso. The Valladolid played a total of eight games in a grueling tour of more than 20 days of which the president brought a good economic gain for the club and the team did not know the defeat. Those who were there say that the worst was hunger, small amounts for what they were used to here, and that they learned to enjoy the natural pineapple juice, which was their main sustenance.

El Real Valladolid played on June 3 against Honduras national team, which ended with 0-0, against Real Spain won 1-2, against the Maraton won 1-3, against Saprissa in Costa Rica with a 0-2 victory. They also faced the Vida de la Ceiba in Honduras with a 1-2 victory, they returned to play against the Honduran team 15 days later with a 2-2 draw. And ended with two games in Venezuela, the first against the Portuguese with a convincing victory by 1-6 and closed the tour against the Department Galicia (2-2) .

Therefore, the club will travel for the third time to America in July and will include Canada among its visited places.
