Joan Mir: "It's not too much to say that I think of a podium"

"It's quite expensive, because everyone wants it and looks for it. They would be big words, but I do not rule out anything, "says the rookie.

Joan Mir has signed with fifth place in Assen his best classification for the MotoGP grid. He is satisfied and, already put, does not rule out improving the sixth of Montmeló and trying the podium.

-Congratulations for achieving his best position on the grid.

-Thank you. I'm very happy. This weekend we deserve a good result. After the last races, before Montmeló, in which the results did not come out, it seems that he is putting the thing on his face. We are seen more in all training, in the top six or top seven, and I went straight to Q2 by the hair.

-I would say that by a miracle, by the cancellation of Rossi's return.

-I was a little disappointed, because I've been all the FP3 in Q2 positions and in the last exit they have put a few in a row, which is a few tenths more. With a tenth I got fourth and suddenly I was eleventh, but when I saw Rossi I was saved and I entered tenth.

-What has changed in the qualifications?

-We still suffer. Here we have been able to solve it and we have felt very good with new tires, but there is still something more to come back, because the Yamaha are very fast, and it seems that they also have something more rhythm.

-What do you expect for the race? ?

-The truth is that I do not know, because I come out fifth and with good rhythm. I hope to be there, in the heart.

-Could it be the time to think about your first podium or that is to think too much?

-It's not too much to say that I think about a podium, because we have a good rhythm. It is clear that a podium in MotoGP is quite expensive, because everyone wants it and looks for it. They would be big words, but I do not rule out anything. To see if in the last laps I can do something Moto3 style and cool.

-There are two rookies in the top five. How is that possible?

-I do not know, because last year's Moto2 world champion is suffering, but what is clear is that the new generation is tightening.
