Jesús Herrada, triumph and leadership: nobody could follow him

The Cofidis started in the final stage of the third stage and released the leader of the race, Pieter Weening. Second victory of 2019 after the one achieved in Mallorca.

Jesús Herrada was the winner of the third stage of the Tour of Luxembourg with a great performance that confirmed that he is on the right track to arrive in good form at the Tour de France. The Spanish cyclist of the Cofidis won the second victory of the year (it was premiered in Mallorca) and the second with the French team's jersey. A triumph achieved thanks to an attack in the last kilometer that nobody could answer and allowed him to reach the finish line alone after a demanding day of 174 km and five first class ports.

Herrada felt good legs at the end. After a first long attempt, he reacted in the end to a rip-off from the leader of the race, Pieter Weening, and then he left alone and raised his arms. This Sunday the race ends and Herrada will try to keep the jersey (he takes 9 "to Lammertink and 18" to Turgis) in a final day that is not at all simple with a broken final circuit.

1. Jesús Herrada (Cofidis) 4:30:47 2. Maurits Lammertink (Roompot) to 3 "3. Anthony Turgis (Direct Energie) to 7"
