Castroviejo, for the fifth National time trial

The Basque of Ineos can break this Friday (4:30 pm) in Yecla (Murcia) with José Iván Gutiérrez and Luis León Sánchez, which will be reserved for the fund.

Jhonathan Castroviejo leaves as a great favorite to be proclaimed champion of Spain against the clock this Friday (from 16:00) in Yecla (Murcia) on a route of 39.4 km in which temperatures of up to 35º are expected. The Basque of Ineos will also have an opportunity to make history and become, with a fifth title, the cyclist with more twists against the clock, breaking with José Iván Gutiérrez and Luis León Sánchez.

Murcia of Astana was going to be his main rival, but yesterday announced that it would be reserved for the substantive test on Sunday, which will also be his countryman Alejandro Valverde (Movistar). "It's a title that I do not have and it makes me especially excited", justified Luis León in ORM Deportes.

The route favors the great riders. You go up the RM-426 for an endless straight and then face again down to Yecla. Other candidates are Luis Mas and Jaime Castrillo, from Movistar, and the brothers Ion and Gorka Izagirre, from Astana, who were second and third in Castellón in 2018.

In the female category, the distance will be 21.6 km (11:30 h) .) and Mavi García (Movistar) will not be able to revalidate his title after fracturing a clavicle during a workout. Her teammate Lourdes Oyarbide seems the most capable to succeed her, as she was already champion in 2017. Other Movistar riders such as Sheyla Gutiérrez, Gloria Rodríguez, Alba Teruel or Eider Merino are also candidates for the podium.
