Bilbao: "I got all the energy I had left"

The 29-year-old Basque cyclist from Astana won his second victory this year in the Giro d'Italia. He was the fastest in the group of favorites for the general.

Pello Bilbao achieved another prestigious victory, the second in this Giro and in the dolomitic stage that decided the race. "A very special victory," the Basque qualified.

"I knew that (the Ecuadorian, Richard) Carapaz would look to give the victory to (the Spaniard, Mikel) Landa, and I stuck to the best wheel. My first victory was special, but this victory is even better than that of Vasto, because it is a mountain stage, "said Bilbao at the end of the stage.

The Spanish runner triumphed in the sprint against Landa, after an outstanding performance in which he was a protagonist in the five climbs planned for the twentieth and penultimate stage, of 194 kilometers, between Feltre and Croce d'Aune-Monte Avena.

"When the contenders for the general classification reached us, I thought it would be difficult, but they were also tired", explained , reviewing the moment in which he fulminated Landa in the final sprint.
