Three goals to zero in a row to reach Europe

It is the best record of the Chen era in the ratio between goals against and points. Special merit has after a second round in which only once before had they finished unbeaten.

A luck of as the one that Espanyol needed to reach European positions almost always obeys to great records. And, to a large extent, the three last days of the team of Joan Francesc Ferrer 'Rubi' are cut by a same pattern: victoria and goal to zero.

Ante Atlético de Madrid (3-0), Leganés (0-2) and Real Sociedad (2-0) Espanyol was allowed the luxury of not receiving a single goal, a real milestone considering that came to the penultimate day with a baggage of almost three months with goals in in all games. The last time that Diego López had finished unbeaten was on the twenty-fourth day, on February 17, against Valencia at Mestalla (0-0) . And in the whole second round I had not gotten any again.

In total, Espanyol has managed to leave his goal to zero up to ten times in this edition of LaLiga, most during the triumphant streak of the start: before the own Valencia ( 2-0), Levante (1-0), Eibar (1-0), Huesca (0-2), Athletic Club (1-0) and Leganés (1-0). These ten finals become the seventh best since the team plays in the RCDE Stadium, away from the 13 of the 2009-10 and 2014-15.

seasons, however, this final three-match unbeaten run does become the best since that Chen Yansheng took over the reins of the club. Not even chained so many victories without conceding goals during the praiseworthy unbeaten record of the campaign 2016-17, with Diego already in the goal, since then they alternated draws and wins: 0-1 against Betis, 0-0 with Athletic , 0-1 at Alavés, 3-0 against Leganés and 0-0 against Atlético de Madrid.
