Kyrgios defrauds in Madrid: defeat to the first against Struff

Nick Kyrgios fell in the opening match of the men's first round against the German Jan-Lennard Struff, who beat him 7-6 (4) and 6-4 in 65 minutes.

Nick Kyrgios returned to star in a new disappointment, this time at the Mutua Madrid Open, where he had reached at least eighths in his previous three appearances. The Australian wayward, protagonist more for his eccentricities both on the track (this Sunday returned to take down, but it did not work) and out of it for his game, fell easily before the German Jan-Lennard Struff (29 years and 48º of the world), a player who is in a good shape but who is not superior to Kyrgios. Even so he beat him 7-6 (5) and 6-4 in 65 minutes.

Kyrgios was a priori threat to Djokovic on his side of the table, but it was diluted once again and he was not able to stay focused or win after losing the first set in the tiebreaker, after having played some good points.

But Struff took better than him (12 aces and 91% points won with first) and only gave his service once for two aussie , which goes empty and at the first exchange of another tournament. The quarterfinals lost in 2016 against Nishikori will remain their ceiling in Madrid for now. In 2015 and 2016 (fell to Nadal) reached the eighths.
