Krassimir Balakov, new coach of Bulgaria

He replaces Petar Houbchev. As a player, he was part of the historic team that reached the semifinals at the 1994 World Cup.


The Bulgarian Football Federation has announced on Tuesday the appointment as new coach of Krassimir Balakov, replacing Petar Houbchev in the post.

As a player, Balakov wore in 92 matches the shirt of Bulgaria and was part of the historic selection that came to Semifinals in the US World Cup'94.

Actual coach of Etar Veliko Tarnovo of his country, Balakov will take over the selection when the Bulgarian league finishes and his debut will take place on June 7 in a match against the Czech Republic qualifying for the European Championship 2020.
