Getafe and Sevilla guarantee the European classification

The defeat of Alavés against Real Sociedad certifies that both teams will finish the season among the top seven.

Getafe and Sevilla have certified their presence in Europe in the next season after the puncture of Alavés against Real Sociedad in the Basque derby. The defeat of the Vitorians guarantees that both Azulones and Neroni acaben the season among the top seven classified, being able to access thus to the places that will allow to compete both in Champions League and in Europa League the next course.

They are pending, of course, what Valencia does in both the Copa del Rey and in continental competition. If Marcelino's team was crowned European League champion, they would go straight to Champions League and there would only be two access points to the Europa League. If the Chés managed to win the Copa del Rey final, they would qualify directly to the second European competition, regardless of the position.

Getafe: third European classification

The historic Getafe season gets its well-deserved prize: the blues will go to Europe after almost a decade away from continental competition. It is the third time that the locals have qualified for European tournaments: the first time was in 2007 as runner-up in the Cup and the next in 2010 after finishing the league in sixth place.

The roof of the azulón club is the quarterfinals of the competition. Then they fell in that historic tie against Bayern Munich that finished 4-4 on aggregate and gave the pass to the Germans for the double value of the away goals. On the following occasion they were not able to pass the group stage, finishing third in a group consisting of Stuttgart, Young Boys and Odense.

Sevilla: 15 of the last 16 possible classifications

El Sevilla guaranteed its presence in Europe in the next season after the defeat of Alavés against Real Sociedad this afternoon, which is their fifteenth continental classification in the last 16 years, a remarkable reflection of the potential of the team in recent seasons. Only Real Madrid and Barcelona achieved that merit in these last 16 seasons. The neronense box still dreams of fourth place, although the stumble against Leganés could condition that goal with two games to go until the close.

The team coached by Joaquín Caparrós is not going through his best moment in the league, but again reaches a site in Europe that could be very different depending on what happens from here to the end of the campaign: opts for the fourth place and a Champions ticket that supposed its goal at the start of the season, but can also stay in seventh place, which would force the team to play three previous Europa League this coming summer.

El Sevilla visits the Metropolitan Wanda this weekend to face Atlético de Madrid and close the course measuring their strength against Athletic Bilbao, precisely one of their enemies in the fight for those European squares.
