Gaviria wins the sprint after disqualification of Viviani

Plain and smooth stage except for a fall in the peloton to 5 km from the finish line. The victory to the sprint was for the Colombian by disqualification of the Italian.

Fernando Gaviria won his first sprint triumph in this Giro d'Italia 2019. In a day that was calm due to the wind, the peloton accumulated a delay over the scheduled time. The Japanese Hatsumaya starred in the day's solo escape, but ended up succumbing after more than 140 kilometers of flight. In the final sprint in Orbetello, Viviani beat Gaviria and Demare, but was disqualified for an illegal career change. The judges disqualified him and Gaviria took the win. In general there were no changes and Primoz Roglic keeps the pink jersey.

This is how we live the Giro: stage 3
