Dumoulin will start first on the clock for fear of rain

The Dutchman, champion of the test in 2017, will be the first to take the start in the Bologna time against the threat of bad weather in the final section of it.

The starting order of the opening time of the Giro d'Italia this Saturday in Bologna leaves us a surprise not usual in this type of stage: the favorites to the general will come first instead of in the last positions.

The reason for this change is due to the threat of bad weather that can affect the last runners to take the exit in the direction of the Basilica of San Luca. A fact that could cause falls or mishaps and that could have a more decisive impact on the fight for the overall.

This way, Tom Dumoulin will be the first cyclist to take the start this Saturday in the Plaza Mayor of Bologna at 16: 50. Other favorites to the general like Vincenzo Nibali and Primoz Roglic will take the exit a few minutes later, at 16: 58 and 17: 01 respectively. The only one of the favorites that has not decided to change his starting order has been Simon Yates, which will roll from 19: 43, while the last cyclist to take the start will be Salvatore Puccio at 19: 45
