Delpo, before Goffin in Rome

The Belgian David Goffin won 4-6, 6-0 and 6-2 to the Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka and will be the first rival of the tennis player from Tandil in the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome.

The Belgian David Goffin won 4-6, 6-0 and 6-2 on Tuesday to the Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka and will be the first rival of the Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro , number 9 of the ATP ranking, at the 1000 Masters in Rome. Goffin, number 23 in the world, took an hour and 52 minutes to prevail over Wawrinka, finalist in Rome in 2008 and who had won three of the four precedents against the Belgian player, never on clay. After losing to Hungarian Marton Fucsovic in the first round of Madrid, Goffin debuted with a good level in Rome and is preparing for reedit last year's match against Del Potro. These two players had met in the last 16 of the last edition of the Foro Italico. The Argentine had to retire in the second set because of a physical problem, with a 5-4 advantage after having lost 6-2 in the first set. Del Potro, one of the most beloved players by the Italian public, won only once four times against Goffin. His only win goes back to Basel 2016.
