Rubén Plaza, to reissue title in the Vuelta a Castilla y León

The cyclist from Alicante will be one of the favorites to win in the Tour of Castilla y León, which starts this Thursday in Belorado and concludes on Saturday in Villafranca del Bierzo.

The 34th edition of the Vuelta Ciclista a Castilla y León that starts tomorrow in Belorado (Burgos) and will end next Saturday in the town of Villafranca Bierzo Bierzo will count with Rubén Plaza (Israel Cycling Academy) as the main candidate for victory, which already obtained last year.

The autonomic round gathers this time 177 runners enrolled in squads of Spain and Portugal -with six teams each-, France, Colombia, Israel, Japan and Russia.

La payroll of winners, with Plaza in search of his third victory to equal in this section the already retired Alberto Contador, has other illustrious names as those of the current world champion, Alejandro Valverde, the Frenchman Pierre Rolland, the American Levi Leipheimer or the Kazakh Alexandre Vinokourov.

Apriori, the team called to control the race is Movistar, with the Colombian W inner Anacona as head of ranks, along with other fast runners like the Italian Daniele Bennati.

También highlights the presence of another veteran -like Rubén Plaza himself that borders the quarantine-, the incombustible Francisco Mancebo, currently in the ranks of the Matrix Japanese Powertag and who at 43 years old is reluctant to take his last pedals in a squad in which he came to excel in the big laps.

The "hosts" of the stage with which the journey begins, Burgos BH, promises plant battle with the Dutch Jetse Bol as standard-bearer, within a squadron with important people like a great arriver like Angel Madrazo or an SUV like Jaume Sureda.

The route of the three stages of this year, of almost 517 kilometers, will cross Burgos, Palencia and Leon, epicenters of the multicultural millennial path of the Camino de Santiago, which serves as a layout for the Vuelta that , on previous occasions has been linked to events such as the Ages of Man, World Heritage Cities, the Teresian Jubilee Year or the Ruta de la Plata.

Tomorrow, the first stage, 181 kilometers, will run between Belorado and Castrojeriz, both localities of the province of Burgos, with a main danger for runners in this first contact, the wind, with the possibility of appearing the dreaded "fans", that can take down the runner who does not know how to handle in this scenario.

La second, 170.3 kilometers, will pass through Palencia, between Frómista and Villada, with the possibility that the wind can play a trick and decide the fate of the race.

The third and final stage will feature the province of León since, with 151.8 kilometers, it will leave the streets of the capital, to finish in Bercian lands, in V illafranca del Bierzo, with one last descent towards Ponferrada that can serve as judge of the stage and who knows if also of the Vuelta.
