Purito Rodríguez and Marc Coma will be in the Vuelta a Ibiza

The race will consist of three stages: with more than 5,850 meters of accumulated altitude and 230 kilometers in total.


The former Spanish route cyclist Joaquím "Purito" Rodríguez has confirmed his participation in the XIX Tour of Ibiza in Mountain Bike (MTB) to be held between April 19 and 21, the organizers of the race have confirmed this Monday.

Purito Rodríguez, with 45 victories in his professional stage, and winner of the UCI World Ranking 2010 and the UCI WorldTour 2012 and 2013, joins other figuras of the national sport, including Marc Coma, five-time champion of Dakar.

La Vuelta a Ibiza MTB will consist of three stages: Ibiza -Sant Antoni de Portamny (72 Km.); Sant Antoni de Portmany - Santa Eulalia (103 Km.) And Sant Antoni de Portmany - Sant Antoni de Portmany (55 Km), with more than 5.850 meters of accumulated altitude and 230 kilometers.

Specialists of mountain bike from all over the world will participate in the round Ibizan, among them José Luis Carrasco and Julen Zubero, that last year won the first and the third stage and that were third of the general in the last edition. There will also be the recent winners of the Algarve Bike Challenge, Hernani Sistelo and Andrew Rodrigues Henriques.

As is also tradition on the island, the Italians will have an important representation in the Vuelta a Ibiza: Massimo Debertolis and Marzio Deho; Jacopo Billi and Andrea Righettini; and also Marco Rebagliati, Oleh Hem, Martino Tronconi and Johnny Cattaneo (winner in 2015 with Fabian Rabensteiner) .

They have also confirmed a total of 39 mixed pairs, among which the ones formed by the German biker Hanka Kupfernagel and Stefan Kupfernagel, his brother, with whom he will participate this year. Also they will take the exit Sandra Jordá Pasco and David López, who was gregarious of the mythical Chris Froome, Anna Jordens with Raúl Hernández. Sandra Santanyés, six times champion of Spain will pedal with her husband Toni Pacios on this occasion.
