Hivert won in Estella with a certain attack that surprised

The Frenchman of the Direct Energie endured in the group where the triumph was played and his break came at the right moment. Luis León (Astana) and Sergio Higuita (Euskadi) completed the podium.

A group of about 15 cyclists who came with victory options in the Indurain GP played this Saturday, Jonathan Hivert was not by far the main favorite. But the French took the triumph alone in Estella's goal thanks to that, in the middle of a carousel of attacks where everyone played their cards, knew perfectly to find the moment to start. He did it when the Slovenian Pogacar was a few meters ahead, and with enough force to pass him and the rest of rivals did not take the wheel. His ability in the final descent allowed him to enter alone while Luis León Sánchez (Astana) and Sergio Higuita (Euskadi Foundation) who at 21 years old continues to show their progression completed the podium.

It was the outcome of a very lively race and with incidents, such as neutralization to little more than 50 km because a fall of about 10 cyclists made the ambulances not coarse. Once regained normality, and the squad regrouped (the breakaway had not reached the minimum difference so that they returned to him to leave advantage), they returned the attacks that selected the group.

In the good cut they did not enter nor Nairo Quintana, to which yes saw him prove from far without luck, nor Mikel Landa, being Carlos Verona and Eduard Prades the tricks of Movistar. Yes they were Nikel Nieve (Mitchelton); Fraile, Gorka and Luis León (Astana); Pogacar (UAE) ... and everyone tried it in the last two climbs to Muru and Ibarra. The last, the young Slovenian of 20 years, took a few meters but could not prevent the experienced Hivert happened to him with his snatch. Attack that earned him his 16th professional victory at 34 years and receive the trophy in Estella from Miguel Indurain.
