Good start of Ciganda and Azahara Muñoz in Hawaii

Both closed the first round in Ko Olina four strokes below par. Far away from the -9 Nelly Korda, leader alone, or the -8 from the Korean Ji.

Carlota Ciganda and Azahara Muñoz starred on Wednesday a good start in the LPGA Lotte Championship. Two of the three Spaniards present in the tournament, which is played over the Ko Olina Golf Club, the Navarre and the Cordoba handed out cards of 68 strokes, four under the field pair . Ciganda, with five birdies for a bogey; Muñoz, with six birdies and two bogeys.

It was not enough, however, to end the day near the head. Because the American Nelly Korda, tenth in the world ranking, put a very low -9 at home club with a big card of 63 shots thanks to 9 birdies without failure, one less than the Korean Eun-Hee Ji (-8) and two less than the Canadian Brooke Henderson and the also Korean Hye-Jin Choi (-7 both). Ciganda and Muñoz will start the second round at 01:01 and at 00:50 on Friday, respectively, in mainland Spain. While Beatriz Recari, the other Spanish who plays in Hawaii (is in +2), will do so at 7:33 pm on Thursday.
