Martínez uncovers and Bernal leads the Colombian party

Daniel Martinez won the queen stage of the Paris-Nice in a tough final climb ahead of his compatriot Superman. Egan Bernal, new leader.

Colombia is de dulce. In the queen stage of the Paris-Nice was patent, once again. With seven ports and a hard final ascent in Col de Turini (15 kilometers to 7.3%), Daniel Martínez (22 years old) was the strongest and added his first World Tour victory ahead of his compatriot, Superman Lopez. Several meters behind were the Frenchman Antonio Edet and the current winner of the Tour of Spain, Simon Yates, who were the last survivors of a successful escape.

The break was composed of 39 runners, a large number with a cast of estrellas: De Gendt, Superman Lopez, Henao, De Marchi, Pantano ... and Spaniards like Iván García Cortina, Héctor Carretero, Víctor de la Parte and Mikel Nieve, who was the great manager to toughen the race in the final section in favor of his teammate Yates. The squad, which came to be more than six minutes, saw how the victory was ahead, by quantity and quality of the members. Gilbert, in the breakaway, was virtual leader during many stages of the race.

With the stage ahead, the general moved from behind. Kwiatkowski could not take more and with two kilometers to go he got off the ground. He was the hardest and his teammate Egan Bernal (also 22 years old) had a clear path ahead. His compatriot and teammate Sosa took him until he could, moment in which he jumped and took to his wheel another Colombian, Nairo Quintana. They both reached the goal together. Bernal managed to bridge the gap with Gilbert, who is now second, and ascended to the lead. Quintana stays third. A Colombian festival in every rule. This Sunday, final stage in Nice with six ports and 110 kilometers. A day in which last year Marc Soler took the general. Let's see this year if there are changes, but point out that everything will remain between Colombians.
