Kwiatkowski is leader and Nielsen finishes the flight; Luis León, 2nd

The one of Astana culminated the first escape that arrives at good port in this Paris-Nice. The Pole of Sky is the new leader and Luis Leon follows him to 5 seconds.

The st largest leg of the present Paris-Nice was finished: 213 kilometers between the towns of Vichy and Pélussin with up to five ports that made up a half-day journey. It was expected battle and there was a day that was conducive to both a flight and for the big favorites of the race were defining the first places of the general. The first thing triumphed and the flight reached the goal. Cort Nielsen proved to be the strongest and took the victory by changing the pace in the final meters. Michal Kwiatkowski is the new leader with Luis León Sánchez second.

Pattery brave tried to play their tricks with the breakaway: De Marchi (CCC), De Gendt (Lotto), Ciccone and Bernard (TFS), Cort (AST), Gesbert (PCB ), Pfingsten (BOH), Le Gac (GFC), Gaudin (TDE), Reza (VCB), Le Turnier (COF), Grosu and Siskevicius (DMP). The French runner of the Groupama FDJ was at times virtual leader of the race with maximum differences for him and his companions of adventure of almost 7 minutes. When they subtracted 130 kilometers the image of the day was produced: the peloton had to stop due to a step At the level for which a train was going to travel. Due to this unforeseen event, the organization of the race was forced to stop the group of escapees from taking advantage of the situation and increase their advantage.

As of There, the squad stopped contemplating and went on the attack with well-organized teams in the lead such as Sky, Deceuninck and Mitchelton, among others. That good work considerably reduced the advantage of the escapees in the decisive section of the day: some last 60 kilometers with four ports practically chained. Before the first ascent, the difference was already below three minutes.

After crowning the hardest port of the day, the Cote de Condrieu (1st category), the head group was reduced to five units. Meanwhile, leader Dylan Groenewegen was cut off by going through the first ramps of that hard climb (8.5% average slope) . The last steps of the stage followed one another and the fugue maintained the pulse, aware that it was in their favor type of terrain crusher. That's how it was, because they signed the first escape that comes to fruition in this year's race.

A platoon led surprisingly by Simon Yates and Esteban Chaves, who worked to find the sprint with Matteo Trentin, did a sensational job with the intention to tear down the breakaway. Also collaborated for Bahrain the Spanish Iván García Cortina, who is allowing himself to be seen in this Paris-Nice with a good role. In spite of everything, they did not manage to catch a head quartet of much level: De Gendt, De Marchi, Nielsen and Ciccone. In the last meters, the smartest and strongest was the Astana runner, who changed the rhythm surprising the rest of his teammates.

In general there were changes before the time left to finish the previous leader, Dylan Groenewegen, situating front Kwiatkowski. Segundo is now Luis León Sánchez after a day in which no favorite dared to move the race. Tomorrow, time trial stage of 25 kilometers in which the first significant differences of this Paris-Nice are expected.
