Kiryienka, in treatment for a cardiac anomaly

The Belarusian of the Sky, world time trial champion in 2015, is in treatment after detecting this problem in a medical examination.

Vasil Kiryienka, at 37, is at a key moment in his career. Sky's Belarusian has been diagnosed with a heart abnormality in a medical examination, so he is currently undergoing treatment. This year had not yet competed with the British team and now the reason is known. Apparently, it was detected during an annual evaluation. "All of our runners have a cardiac exam every year, and on the Kiry test we found an anomaly that required further investigation", said Sarriegui, team doctor.

After this, there is no return date. "After the tests, Kiry is receiving treatment and will remain out of the competition until further notice," said the doctor. Kiryienka was proclaimed World Time Trial Champion in 2015 and has been on the Sky since 2013. Before, he was four seasons between the Movistar Team and the Caisse d'Epargne. In his palmares, he also has stage victories in the Giro d'Italia and in the Vuelta a España.
